Descripción/Description:

Universidad de Cordoba (Spain) is offering two 1-year contracts for postdoctoral applicants with experience on the cosmological analysis of galaxy surveys. This call is funded by Planes complementarios de I+D+I (Astrofísica y Física de Altas Energías) Marco de Recuperación y Resiliencia of Junta de Andalucía, and Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia - Financiado por la Unión Europea - NextGenerationEU.

The selected candidates will participate in the statistical exploitation and cosmological interpretation of the J-PAS survey. In particular, they will exploit the information in the two-point correlation function (or power spectrum) of the distribution of galaxies and quasars. Based on the analysis of this quantity, the candidates will develop software that helps measure properties such as the position of the baryon acoustic peak at different redshift ranges, or the suppression of density fluctuations at small scales. The final product will be the implementation of these observational results in existing cosmological codes, and thus obtain their cosmological interpretation regarding the expansion history of the Universe, the determination of neutrino mass, and the cosmological detection of particles beyond the Standard Model.

Experience on the cosmological analysis of galaxy surveys is required for these positions. In particular, candidates with experience on BAO analysis or neutrino mass determination are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of cosmological software such as CLASS, MontePython or Cobaya is a plus. Previous or active status within any galaxy survey will be particularly valued, as well as any international predoctoral or postdoctoral experience related to this topic.

Starting date can be as early as May 1st except for non-EU candidates, which will need an additional month before starting this position. The duration of both contracts is 12 months, with a possible short extension of 2 to 3 months each. Each contract will receive a gross income of 33,000 euros per year. Selected candidates will also have available an additional budget of 5,000 euros each for conferences and collaboration trips.

Potential candidates with experience on galaxy surveys should contact Antonio J. Cuesta (ajcuesta@uco.es) for more details. The call will be open shortly (by March 1st), as soon as it gets published at https://www.uco.es/investigacion/portal/convocatorias-de-contratos. However, please note that there is a short 7-day period for application submission, so it is strongly ecommended that the applicants prepare the required documentation before the call is open: academic certificates, PhD Title, ID (DNI/NIE), CV/Resume, contracts/certificates of previous academic jobs, and other relevant merits.
