Descripción/Description:
Dear friends and colleagues,
I would like to draw your attention to postdoctoral positions opening
in the Infrared Group at the Max-Planck-Institute for extraterrestrial
Physics (MPE) in Garching, Germany.
In particular, I am looking for postdocs to work in the area of galaxy
evolution and join the science team at MPE exploiting notably unique
data from the new ERIS near-infrared integral field spectrograph and
imager at the Very Large Telescope.
These positions will be funded through my ERC Advanced Grant for the
project "GALPHYS", focussed on the multi-year ~88 nights program on
galaxy evolution I lead as part of ERIS Guaranteed Time Observations
to begin early in 2023.
ERIS will enable new breakthroughs in studies of the kinematics,
structure, outflows, and physical conditions of z~0.5-3 galaxies
from unsurpassed sensitivity, spectral resolution up to R~10000,
and diffraction-limited angular resolution.
