The CIEMAT–FP Unit (Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, MedioAmbientales y Tecnológicas - Física de Partículas) announces an opening for a predoctoral position for EU nationals with a Master's degree in Physics (according to the Bologna declaration) interested in working in observational cosmology with the goal of obtaining a PhD Thesis. This 4-year contract is funded by CIEMAT with the code 224-PRECIE-PDI22.

CIEMAT–FP currently participates in several ongoing galaxy surveys, with the goal of pinning down the nature of dark energy: the Dark Energy Survey (www.darkenergysurvey.org), the PAU Survey (www.pausurvey.org) and the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (www.desi.lbl.gov), using cameras built in part by us at 4-m telescopes in Chile, the Canary Islands and the USA. The PhD student will have the opportunity to engage with the data from these state of the art projects, collaborate with scientists and engineers from around the world, and develop his/her own project within these collaborations.

We offer close supervision, a collegial and stimulating international environment with expected research stays in the United States and other partner institutions, as well as presentation of results at meetings and conferences and observation shifts.
