The UCM group of Extragalactic Astrophysics and Astronomical Instrumentation (Grupo UCM-GUAIX) at Universidad Complutense de Madrid
(UCM) is seeking outstanding candidates to apply for the Margarita Salas and María Zambrano competitive fellowship programs. The
specifics for each of the programs follow:
Postdoctoral Fellowship program Margarita Salas
A two-year contract for Spanish candidates who obtained a Ph.D. in a non-Spanish University between July 2019 and July 2021.

The UCM-GUAIX has an ample trajectory in the fields of Extragalactic Astrophysics and the design, development, and scientific exploitation of Astronomical Instrumentation for large facilities, with scientific interests ranging from the study of nearby and distant galaxies, also performing galaxy simulations. The group participates in the international consortia that developed the MEGARA and EMIR MOS spectrographs for the Gran Telescopio Canarias. GUAIX researchers also participate in the design and development of the TARSIS instrument for the Calar Alto 3.5m telescope and the MOSAIC instrument for the ESO 39m Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). Finally, GUAIX researchers also work in the field of light pollution. The successful candidate is expected to join and develop most of her/his work within these international collaborations.
The UCM has obtained a total of 180 grants and 90 have to be "Margarita Salas". By far the highest number for a specific institution.
If you are interested, please send us at j.gallego@ucm.es or agil@ucm.es a cover letter and a CV (including the contact details for at least one referee), better before July 23rd, 2021.
The UCM-GUAIX is part of IPARCOS (Institute of Particle Physics and the Cosmos), a leading institute of the Complutense University, with activities related to Particle and Nuclear Physics, Astrophysics, and Instrumentation. If you are interested in applying to these calls in a related area, you may find a list of research groups and contact persons at https://www.ucm.es/iparcos/about.
