We seek applications for two Postdoctoral Research Associate positions at the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh to carry out research into the co-evolution of galaxies and their central black holes.

The successful candidates will join a newly established research group, led by Dr James Aird, and funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship. We foresee one position focused on new multiwavelength characterisations of AGN populations to establish the lifecycles of black holes on long timescales, and a second position focused on using large optical spectroscopic surveys to determine when AGN activity occurs within the lifecycles of galaxies. However, all candidates with interests in galaxy evolution or AGN are encouraged to apply, regardless of career path. There will be exciting opportunities to engage in the SDSS-V and WEAVE-LOFAR spectroscopic programmes. You will also be encouraged and supported to engage in the broader career development and training opportunities provided by the University of Edinburgh.
