Descripción/Description:
Argelander Fellowship 2021
The Argelander Institute for Astronomy (AIfA) at the University of Bonn invites applications for the
Argelander Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, which honors Friedrich Wilhelm August Argelander (1799-1875)
and his first modern sky survey.
The Argelander Fellowship supports an outstanding young astrophysicist in developing their research potential within the rich scientific environment of Bonn. Argelander Fellows are expected to carry out research that complements and strengthens the existing scientific profile of the AIfA. The program intends to advance the leadership skills of early-career researchers through student co-supervision. It also supports the development of funding strategies to build independent research groups. The Argelander Fellowship provides a competitive salary based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L E13) plus a travel and research budget for three years. Argelander Fellows are identified in a competitive international search.
The AIfA offers a comprehensive M.Sc. curriculum in Astrophysics and hosts over 100 scientists covering a wide range of observational and theoretical research, extending from stellar physics to cosmology. We are involved in major international projects, such as ALMA, SRG/eROSITA, CCAT-prime, Euclid, and Athena, and we have strong ties to the neighboring Max-Planck-Institute for Radioastronomy and the University of Cologne.
How to apply?
Applicants should submit a single pdf document to argelander@astro.uni-bonn.de by November 30, 2020. This document should include CV, publication list – highlighting up to three papers of particular relevance, and a two-page research plan.
