Descripción/Description:
Context: The e-XTP (enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission) is a science mission aimed to study the state of matter under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism (see https://www.isdc.unige.ch/extp/). It is now in extended phase A approved by CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences). Europe is providing the Wide Field Monitor (WFM), a coded mask instrument. We at ICE, CSIC and IEEC (http://www.ice.csic.es/) are PIs of the WFM and should provide the coded masks and the mechanical structure of the cameras (collimator and detector box). We are progressing with respect to what we already did for the LOFT WFM during the feasibility study approved by ESA (M3 call), for an expected e-XTP launch in 2025.
Specific tasks: The mechanical engineer will work in the optimization of the mechanical design and analysis of the WFM: coded mask assembly, collimator, detector and front-end electronics housing box. Knowledge of software for mechanical design and analysis, like Autodesk inventor, Solid works, NASTRAN, Comsol, will be valued, as well as good level of English language.
Contract: Starting date: as soon as possible (October-November 2018). Duration: until the end of the MICINN funded project about eXTP (December 2019), but an extension for at least 2 more years is envisioned, if the eXTP project goes ahead as expected.
Contact: Application, including a CV and a letter of motivation, should be sent to Margarita Hernanz (hernanz@ice.csic.es). For more information use the same email address. The position will be open until filled.
