Descripción/Description:
The Space Research Group (SRG-UAH) of University of Alcalá, Spain, announces the opening of one Data Engineer/Scientist position to work for 12 months in the development of catalogs & data products related with solar energetic particle events.
- Position Type: First Stage Researcher (R1)
- Categories/Specialties: Data Analysis/Space Science/Solar and Heliospheric Physics
- Deadline: 22/12/2020 - 24:00 h CET
This researcher is linked to Solar energetic particle analysis platform for the inner heliosphere (SERPENTINE) European project, Grant Agreement number 101004159.
SERPENTINE project
The international project Solar energetic particle analysis platform for the inner heliosphere (SERPENTINE), is coordinated by the University of Turku and will be launched at the beginning of 2021. The project, funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 program, will answer several outstanding questions about the origin of Solar Energetic Particle (SEP) events and provides an advanced platform for the analysis and visualization of high-level datasets to benefit the wider heliophysics community. We exploit the unique opportunity provided by the unprecedented fleet of spacecraft currently in the inner heliosphere. The key data comes from the most recent European and US missions, i.e., Solar Orbiter (SolO), Parker Solar Probe (PSP) and BepiColombo (BepiC).
A total of six European universities and research institutes from five different countries participate in the project: University of Turku and University of Helsinki (Finland), University of Kiel (Germany), Imperial College London (UK), Université Paul Sabatier (France) and the University of Alcalá (Spain).
