Descripción/Description:
Opening for a PhD position in Leicester, starting Sept 2020, on "The first supermassive black holes" which will focus on developing models, simulations, and analysis tools for Athena surveys (including X-ray and multiwavelength data). See: https://le.ac.uk/study/research-degrees/funded-opportunities/cse-physics-aird-2020
Please note the relatively early application deadline of 21st November.
The funding covers the full UK/EU tuition fee and provides an annual tax free stipend of £15,009 for the 3.5 years of the PhD.
A particular advantage of the scheme is that there is no UK residence requirement - all applicants are eligible to receive the full stipend (which differs to the bulk of UK PhD opportunities). I think this makes it a good opportunity for any students who have been in the UK for a short period (e.g. for a Masters) or have studied elsewhere in the EU.
