The Institute of Space Sciences (ICE) (http://www.ice.csic.es/en) is looking for an Electronic engineer for space and ground-based instrumentation to strengthen the engineering department.

ICE is leading and participating in different missions and experiments (e.g. ARIEL, LISA, and Nanosats.). Some of the institute responsibilities in these projects are focused on mission-critical electronic developments. See ICE web page for more details: http://www.ice.csic.es/en/content/96/capacities

The electronic engineer will contribute to that space missions and ground experiments. He/she will participate in the design and development of electronic equipment for on-board applications and electronic ground-segment equipment.

The appointed engineer will participate as a developer in all the aforementioned projects and will carry out different kind of tasks according to the development phase of the project:

- He/she will participate in the designing and prototyping activities for phase A/B1 ESA missions (ARIEL, LISA, nanosats).

- He/she will participate in mission and experiment meetings (internal and external to ICE) and eventually lead tasks in the mentioned projects and at a Consortium level.

- He/she will identify new funding opportunities and collaborate in the preparation of proposals to respond EU, ESA, national funding calls.

- He/she will contribute to fostering the participation of institute researchers in the construction of new space missions and experiments.

 

The contract will be for a period of 3 years.

 

Candidates with BSc or MSc degree in Electronic Engineering of Telecommunications will be considered. MSc in Aerospace Science and Technology will be valued (last year course students are also encouraged to submit the CV).

 

The candidate should have experience in electronics design and development in the following areas: analog and digital electronics, RF, PCB, FPGA.

 

He/she should have also experience in software programming for Linux with different programming languages and environments: C, MatLab, Python, Java, Arduino, LabView.

 

He/she should have background with the engineering development life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, documentation and testing) and should have experience on configuration control tools (i.e., subversion, git) and on developing electronics for space missions and ground-based instrumentation.

 

 

 

The candidate should have the ability to reach challenging goals, work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, as well as possess good communication skills (in English). Knowledge of astronomical instrumentation will be valued.

 

Initial screening will start on October 10, 2018. The positions will be open until filled.

 

Selection process: The selection process, according to the number of applicants, will consist of a curricular pre-selection and follow-up interviews.
